John Miller 1933 – 2013

John Miller 1933-2013

JohnMillerStarting his career as a professional photographer, John Miller worked in that capacity for the CSIRO before starting up the first D&P service for the NSW Riverina region around 40 years ago – operating out of his garage in the town of Griffith.
He had a long list of pharmacy clients throughout the towns of the Riverina, offering them an alternative to the then-dominant Kodak wholesale operation.

He then established the first photo retail outlet in the Riverina in his home town of Griffith, with strong connections with Hanimex in those early days.

He was one of the founders of the Camera House group and served for many years on the board of directors. According to his daughter, Louise, he had a particular brief to ensure regional Camera House stores were well-represented.

He retired from active service at Griffith Camera House eight years ago, selling the store to Louise. However, he maintained an active interest in Camera House and photo retailing. John passed away on Australia Day 2013, finally succumbing at the age of 79 to multiple myeloma, after a brave 20-year battle with the disease. He is survived by his wife Yvonne, who was also his life-long business partner, and three children: Craig, Louise and Leanne.
